As August comes to a close, we’d like to take a moment and reflect on some of this past month’s brightest moments!

“LOVED” Vintage + Second Hand Sale took place at the Oliver Block on August 21st. This event featured various vendors, curators, and vintage enthusiasts with all kinds of products ranging from clothing to home decor. There was something for everyone at this event, with an amazing variety of styles, prices, etc. LOVED also doubled as a summer patio party with the Oliver Block back patio being incorporated into the space alongside Solstice Juice Co. The donations collected through the event's admission were donated to the Harbour House and Safe Haven Women’s shelters.

Tacos Made in Mexico hosted a Karaoke Party on August 21st with DJ Suave, playing all the classics and new Latin hits!

The Pop-Up Park Project saw another installation of this initiative on August 21st in a PBR-themed rendition. This event featured a petting zoo, provided by Gentle Giant Acres, that included chickens, guinea pigs, ducks, bunnies, and a goat. Multiple prizes were also given away at this event such as tickets to the Professional Bull Rider shows at ENMAX, ENMAX gift cards, and tickets to the Saints and Sinners Tour.

In the final Pop-Up Park Project of the summer, we created an interactive public space in festival square where participants could sit back, relax, and watch outdoor movies. Friday’s showing was the timeless Shrek, while Spider-Man: Far From Home was played throughout Saturday. Those who came were able to enjoy free popcorn, games, and enter a draw for a chance to win a movie-themed gift basket!

August 21st brought the penultimate History & Beer Tour of the year with stops at Italian Table, Round Table Board Gamerie, Bread Milk & Honey, and Streatside Eatery. September’s History & Beer Tour will take place on the 18th - more details to come.

This month also saw a new cigarette receptacle initiative unfold as different Downtown locations received them. This initiative was created by two Lethbridge High School Students, Morteza Faraj and Steven Yang. Once a month, the collected cigarettes will be sent away to a recycling company. One dollar for every pound of cigarettes collected will be donated to the Interfaith Food Bank.

Closing out the month of August, we welcomed Decor Out the Door into the Downtown Community! As stated in their name, they have a great selection of home decor products alongside other gift and retail items. They additionally have a coffee bar! They are located at 316 7 St S.
