Festival Square is one of the most exciting public spaces in Downtown Lethbridge. It offers a flexible venue for events of all kinds. It's available to individuals and organizations both within, and outside the downtown core, making it a hub for creativity, celebration, and community engagement. And it's a lot more affordable to rent than you probably realize!

To get started, you'll need to fill out an application form. You can either download it from our website, or email festivalsquare@downtownlethbridge.com to request one. Bookings are accepted on a first come, first served basis.. If you're looking to plan something last-minute, don't worry these requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Festival Square comes well-equipped for a variety of event needs. From seating to entertainment extras, organizers can access items such as bistro tables and chairs, temporary fencing, bollard chains, umbrellas, and pylons. There are also fun add-ons like a ping pong table and cornhole games. Propane heaters are available too, though you'll need to supply your own propane. Electrical access is also provided, including 50-amp plug-ins if needed just be sure to note your power requirements on the application.

Road Closure Options

If your event requires a road closure, this can be arranged as part of your booking. The area referred to as Zone 3 in the application is eligible for closure, and requests must be made at least two weeks in advance. Once your event is approved, we will manage both the road closure and reopening process.

Insurance

All events at Festival Square must carry Commercial General Liability Insurance with coverage of at least $2 million. This policy must include coverage for bodily injury and/or death, and it must list the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ as an additional insured party. Proof of insurance must be submitted at least two weeks before the event date. These requirements apply to both public and private events.

What Kinds of Events Are Allowed?

Festival Square is designed to be a flexible, open venue for nearly any kind of event from cultural festivals and live music to community markets and private gatherings. The BRZ has final say on event approvals, but we are always open to new ideas and enthusiastic about helping you bring your vision to life.
