Passion for fiber in art and design is the connection point for the guild members. This passion lead several fiber artists to formalize their joint passion in the forming of the Textile Surface Design Guild, now celebrating its 30th year that began June 1, 2011. The guild currently has over 35 members.
The Textile Surface Design Guild is a group of artists working in a variety of surface design techniques, both individually and as a group. The guild offers an opportunity for artists to work at their own pace in an encouraging and supportive environment. The guild studio room provides a safe, well ventilated work area for guild members to use. The sharing and exploration of techniques and processes is an important part of guild membership. Some techniques that used to transform fiber into artwork include dyeing, fabric painting, silkscreen, batik, stamping, stencilling, felting, collage, embellishment, painting and dyeing other surfaces including wood, paper and glass.
New members are always welcome. Previous experience is not required to join the guild. The artists in our guild work in a wide diversity of techniques and materials and at levels from novice to expert. We welcome all who are passionate about fiber and textiles to attend a guild meeting and connect with others who share your passion.
