Façade Grant

Property and/or business owners are eligible to receive an up to $15,000 matching grant for an approved restoration/rehabilitation project. This is based on a 25 ft. frontage. It is up to the discretion of the Urban Revitalization Manager to provide additional funding for larger projects.

The Alberta Main Street Program required the building to be at least 50 years of age or older to be eligible to receive a facade grant. Since 2009, the program has been a bit more flexible on the age of the building when consideration is being made for Main Street Program funding. New, infill buildings are also vetted through the Main Street Program office to ensure that the design and exterior finishes are sympathetic to the heritage buildings in the downtown I.e. red brick, Manitoba Tyndall Stone and certain types of stucco are exterior finishes that would be supported for new and existing buildings as these finishes were used on many of the heritage buildings in downtown Lethbridge. Before and after images are taken by the Main Street Program coordinator for reporting purposes.
